Governing Body

The Governing Body of Burnage Academy for Boys is the Admissions Authority for Burnage Academy for Boys and as such is required to draft, consult on and determine the admission arrangements for the Academy (see Admissions Policy here). We work in close partnership with Manchester Local Authority’s (LA) Coordinated Admissions Scheme to provide comprehensive education for all.

Where there are more applicants than places available the LA will apply the admission arrangements in order to decide which applicants will be offered places.

Published Admission Number (PAN)

A Published Admission Number (PAN) is the number of places a school/academy has in the year of entry.

The PAN number for the school for 2021-22 is 180. Due to an increase in applications for the school, the PAN number for the school for 2022-23 will increase to 200. We strongly encourage early applications for places for the 2022-23 Academic year through the links above. Places will normally only be offered up to the PAN number. For more information on our oversubscription policy and the priority criteria that determines who will be accepted please see more information in the Admissions Policy.

A child cannot be refused admission to the normal year of entry on the grounds of prejudice to the provision of efficient education and efficient use of resources unless the published admission number has been reached. However, if circumstances at the school/academy have changed since the year of entry, a place may be refused even if the admission number has not been reached.

To maintain manageable class sizes optimised for learning, our aim is to maintain our Number On Roll at no more than 900.
