All parent/carers are required to apply to their home LA regardless of where the school/academy they are applying is situated. Manchester residents will apply to Manchester LA.
The LA will liaise with other Admissions Authorities in Manchester and other LAs where required. Manchester LA will inform parent/carers in writing of the outcome of their application.
The Governing Body of Burnage Academy for Boys is the Admissions Authority for Burnage Academy for Boys and as such is required to draft, consult on and determine the admission arrangements for the Academy. We work in close partnership with Manchester Local Authority’s (LA) Coordinated Admissions Scheme to provide comprehensive education for all.
Where there are more applicants than places available the LA will apply the admission arrangements in order to decide which applicants will be offered places.
Published Admission Number (PAN)
A Published Admission Number (PAN) is the number of places a school/academy has in the year of entry. The BAfB 2018/19 PAN number is 180 .
Places will normally only be offered up to the Published Admission Number. For more information on our oversubscription policy and the priority criteria that determines who will be accepted please see more information in the Admissions Policy file attached to this page.
A child cannot be refused admission to the normal year of entry on the grounds of prejudice to the provision of efficient education and efficient use of resources unless the published admission number has been reached. However, if circumstances at the school/academy have changed since the year of entry, a place may be refused even if the admission number has not been reached.
To maintain manageable class sizes optimised for learning, our aim is to maintain our Number On Roll at no more than 900 from 01 September 2019.
An Invitation From The Headmaster To See BAfB In Action
From the 1st to the 19th October 2018 we will be having a series of open weeks at the school. We know that parents want to see how a school really operates day to day before making a decision where to send their child in Year 7.
With this in mind, please call the school on 0161 432 1527 to make an appointment to meet one of our Leadership Group at any time in the school day. We will take you on a guided tour of the school at a time which suits you so you can see our school in action.
