The Importance of Reading

Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures.

At BAFB we recognize the importance of reading and do everything we can to encourage our students to read as widely and as often as possible.

Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice.

AR gives both children and teachers feedback based on the quiz results which the teacher then uses to help the child set targets and ongoing reading practice.

For more information on the Accelerated Reader, please see our Accelerated Reader Guide.
