It is with the greatest of pleasure that as the new Headteacher of Burnage Academy for Boys I am able to welcome you to our website.

I am bursting with pride at how fortunate I am to lead such an impressive school. I say well done and thank you to all of our parents and carers who made the decision to send their son to the highest achieving school in the whole of Manchester and one of the top performing schools in the entire region. It was a wise choice.

Ofsted recognised how impressive our boys are, how well they conduct themselves and how a boys’ school like Burnage can create impressive young adults. As a school for boys, we celebrate boys and achieve great success, whereas across the country boys continue to fall further and further behind. This isn’t the case at Burnage.

There are many perceptions of Burnage Academy for Boys in and around the city and local community. Many people are aware that we are an Ofsted Outstanding school. Many people won’t be aware that our boys achieve GCSE results that place us in the top 3% of non-selective schools in the North West of England and our English and Maths results are in the top 1%! I walked into our school for the first time on interview, I instantly felt at home and it rightly felt like a very special place. Our boys were polite and respectful, they were confident and ambitious and they spoke with pride about their school and the tremendous sense of community. Teachers were clearly talented and committed, lessons were focussed, and learning was at the heart of the school. We have a bespoke personal development programme specifically designed around boys’ needs which ensures that our pupils leave the school with a solid moral compass, a clear understanding of the wider world around them and how to succeed in this world.

The numbers of our boys in post-16 education, employment or training are some of the highest in the City and many of our alumni go on to study at some of the most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom.
