Year 11 had an emotional and impactful experience on Tuesday 13th November, visiting the SafeDrive Greater Manchester road show at the Middleton Arena as a whole year group. The students were exposed to hard-hitting, real life stories of the consequences of dangerous driving from the victims of road traffic accidents as well as the professionals who deal with the aftermath of these tragic events. Our pupils listened intently and respectfully to the tragic stories and emotion from the families involved. It really did hit home with our pupils, with our post-event evaluations showing that:
- 80% of year 11 stated that the event would definitely make them drive more safely.
- 85% said they would now always ensure that they wore a seatbelt at all times.
- 89% of the year group thought that Safe Drive was essential viewing for young adults aged 16-19.
Thanks go to Audrey Lewis from the Safeguarding Team who came up with suggestion to take the pupils to this event and to the dedicated team of staff who supported the trip, helping to make the event a huge success.
