We are committed to making the transition experience relaxed and straightforward for families. In order to ensure you feel prepared, we maintain regular contact with primary schools and provide a range of opportunities for young people and their families to learn more about our school.
Examples of this contact include:
- Primary school visits from Burnage Academy staff
- Primary school transition visits to meet Y6 teachers
- Individual tours for prospective families
- Activity days at Burnage e.g. Drama, Cooking, PE
- Taster days for Year 6 children
- Taster days for Year 5 children
- Open days for prospective families
In addition to the above, the KS2-KS3 Transition Co-ordinator, Ms Doyle, maintains an overview of Year 7 students throughout their first year of school, providing pastoral support to ensure a positive start to their secondary education.
“Welcome to Burnage Academy for Boys, I look forward to meeting you and helping you settle in here. You might be a little bit nervous, but don’t worry – we are here to make sure everything goes well.
You’ve got so much to look forward to! I can’t wait to welcome you and show you what Burnage is all about.
You are very lucky to be attending an Outstanding school, filled with opportunities to be the best you can be and learn about Manchester and the world around you. See you soon!”
Our staff are here to support you in making the best choice for your son. Call us on 0161 4321527 or email our dedicated transition team: email@example.com.
We have put together a handy transition guide for families. Inside, you will find all the key information you need before moving up to secondary school.
Once you have confirmed your place at Burnage, families of Y7 students will receive a voucher that entitles your son to a free Burnage blazer from MCS Stores. The voucher will be posted to your home address and must be redeemed in store. Blazers cannot be purchased at the school.
Y7 students will be provided with a free tie when they start with us in September. Replacement ties can be purchased at school when ordered through ParentPay.
A price list for MCS Stores can be found below. You may wish to purchase non-branded items, such as shirts and trousers, at alternative providers.
