A group of hard-working Year 9 boys have recently completed The Scholar’s Programme run by The Brilliant Club. The programme has given them an exciting opportunity to work with a PhD student who is an expert in their field and experience what life might be like studying at university. He has been tutoring the group on a science-related topic beyond the school curriculum and they have just been awarded their fantastic final grades.
The boys involved have shown true resilience and pushed themselves completely out of their comfort zones. They have worked independently on a challenging project about the science of alternative energy resources and their science teachers have had no input into their final assignments. They even had to undertake their own research using academic resources published and used by real scientists!
Our boys all achieved a grade 2.1 (working to a good standard at A level) or 2.2 (working to an excellent standard at GCSE level) and have developed a huge range of skills over the course of the programme. We are so proud and we will be sure to celebrate with all of the boys when we are back in school. We are also looking forward to starting the Year 8 Scholar’s Programme with an equally brilliant group of boys as soon as we are able to.
Thank you to Miss Oates for organising the programme and again a huge well done to the boys involved!
