Burnage Reading Bulletin
17/03/2021

At Burnage, we know that reading is one of the best ways to learn. An enjoyment of reading and good literacy skills result in happier young people, improved attainment and success in future pathways.

Lacking vital literacy skills holds a person back at every stage of their life. As a child they won't be able to succeed at school, as a young adult they will be locked out of the job market, and as a parent they won't be able to support their own child's learning. This intergenerational cycle makes social mobility and a fairer society more difficult.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we are continuing to promote learning across the school. All students have free access to MyON, an online library with over 5000 digital texts, and we are now publishing a regular bulletin with reading recommendations, vocabulary and competitions.
