Re: Possible re-opening of schools to Year 10 in June 2020
You may well have seen in the national press that schools may be partially re-opening from June 2020 to allow some more face to face contact between Year 10 pupils and their teachers.
We are waiting for further guidance and clarification from the government on this matter, which will help us to create a clear plan for a safe partial re-opening of the school to Year 10 pupils. We will share this with you as soon as possible so you as parents know what this will look like in practice for your son.
It is clearly a very unsettling time for all but rest assured that we will be planning how to continue to offer your son an outstanding education in a safe space with increased face to face contact with his teachers. Safeguarding your son throughout this pandemic is our priority and we will be doing everything we can to receive Year 10 pupils back into school in as safe a way as possible for all, including for his teachers.
However, we will not be pressuring you to send your son back to us for face to face learning. Government guidance makes it very clear that parents who choose to keep their children off school throughout this phase of partial school re-opening will not be cautioned or fined.
In the meantime, the school still remains open for vulnerable children and the children of key workers, who we urge to attend daily from 9am until 2pm. We will also continue to provide work for your son to complete at home through the ‘home learning’ section of our school website. If you do need further help with this work then please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we will provide additional support.
