Burnage Academy has been named as Secondary School of the Year at the prestigious Tes Schools Awards 2024.
The Tes Schools Awards recognises the very best teachers and schools from UK state and independent schools, across early years settings, primary and secondary.
Mr Harrison, Mr Lawther, Ms Lindsay, Mr Sumner and Ms Tyson travelled to London to represent the school at the awards evening, which was hosted by the co-host of award-winning TV show, Taskmaster, Alex Horne.
Our category was the final award of the night, and against some tough competition we were thrilled to be announced as the winner.
Tes Schools Awards judge, Dame Christine Gilbert said, “Burnage Academy is an inspiring and inclusive school where families are supported well and students thrive, love learning and achieve exceptionally well. Staff are passionate about their work and determined to ensure the boys are the best they can be. Young people leave Burnage Academy ambitious for themselves and their community, with the confidence and skills that enable them to make a real difference in life.”
Mr Harrison added, “It is an incredible achievement and testimony to the hard work of every single one of our staff members, every single day. We have a brilliant school.
“Our pupils continue to show resilience, independence and care and this leads to exceptional outcomes and prepares them for the next steps of their journey.
“Thank you to Tes for the award and to everyone who supports our school community.”
The award makes it a hat-trick of prizes for the school this year, with success at the Educate North Awards and for Mo Osman in the Pearson National Teaching Awards.
