Headteacher's Welcome

It is with great pride that I welcome you to Burnage Academy for Boys. Here, we know the skills that boys need in order to thrive, and have developed a school environment where all pupils can be the best that they can be through our values of resilience, independence and care.

Boys do better at Burnage

We are extremely proud to say that boys have consistently been more successful with us than they would have been at any other school in Manchester, and the majority of schools in England. In 2024, we were named Secondary School of the Year at the Tes Schools Awards, won multiple prizes at the Educate North Awards, and Ofsted rated us as ‘Outstanding’. Our pupils have a strong track record of progressing to Further and Higher Education, with alumni working in the fields of medicine, education, the arts, science and more. When looking at individual subjects, our pupils achieve higher grades than their peers elsewhere in every single subject that we teach.

Opportunities for success

I am passionate about making young people’s lives better and I know how education offers all students the chance of success – no matter their background. I’m privileged to serve my home city of Manchester and to lead a school where our focus is solely on boys, ensuring that they are valued and that their lives are enriched. We know how important it is that all boys are given access to a range of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

Don’t just take our word for it

We are more than happy to show you around at a time convenient to you and your family – just get in touch with our office and we’ll arrange a time to give you a tour.
